Fourth of July Fundraiser a Success!:
We had a great time at Kenney Reservoir selling food and auctioning art, with a lot of support from friends, family and the community. The money we raised will allow us to complete our application for 501(c)3 non-profit status with money left over for a small operating fund to support arts and culture programming in our area.
A huge thank you to all of you who donated art, food, money, time and supplies, as well as everyone who came to the event and admired the artwork, bought goodies and bid on art. A special thank you goes to Patti Tipton, Arts Council member and volunteer, whose tireless energy, experience and generosity made this event possible!
Here is a letter we sent to the Herald Times following the event.
July 10, 2007
Dear Editor,
On July 4, 2007, members of the community and the new Rangely Arts Council joined together to open the Lakeside Café at Kenney Reservoir and host a Silent Art Auction to benefit the Arts Council. The fundraiser was a resounding success, bringing in over $1400 for our new organization!
Numerous community members pitched in to pull off this event, with endless volunteer hours involved in planning, cleaning, cooking, etc, as well as generously donating art, supplies, and money. The list of volunteers and donors is impressive, and many people supported the event by buying food, art, and just showing up to admire the work of our talented local artists.
The Rangely Arts Council, a new organization based in Rangely, Colorado, is dedicated to the support of art and culture in Rangely's community and region. The success of our first fundraiser and the genuine enthusiasm and support we received from the community demonstrates that art and culture is truly valued in our region!

Waving Hands Club paints new mural at Giant Step
Waving Hands Art Club created a large mural in the Giant Step Classroom on Saturday, June 30, their biggest mural to date.
Waving hands is a project of Maria Stepanyan and Charlie Hickman to bring people together for good cause and to be an artistic service to the community. It is all free to you, just show up and we will guide you in our unique style of painting that even young children can do! Children under 10 years old should have a parent to help guide them in this activity.

Waving Hands needs your support, consider donating cash or supplies to help keep us going. We especially need donations of snacks for our painters. Traditionally we enjoy tea and cookies after a few hours of painting, this is a time for people to rest and visit in the old world style.
Waving Hands is always looking for new places to paint, you can see our work at the Columbine Clinic Lobby, Giant Step and in the pediatric exam room Rangely District Hospital. We are especially looking for a crew to make our first outdoor mural right along Main Street.
